Jesus (c. 4 BCE – 30/33 CE), also known as Jesus of Nazareth or Jesus Christ, is the central figure of Christianity.
Jesus Christ, Quick historical summary:
Born: Likely between 6–4 BCE in Bethlehem or Nazareth, in the region of Judea (modern Israel/Palestine) under Roman rule.
Ministry: Around age 30, he began a public teaching career in Galilee and Judea. He preached about the Kingdom of God, emphasised love, forgiveness, mercy, and repentance. Famous for the Sermon on the Mount, parables, and reported miracles (healing, exorcisms, feeding crowds, resurrection of the dead).
Crucifixion: Executed by crucifixion under Roman prefect Pontius Pilate, probably around 30–33 CE. Most historians accept this as a well-attested historical event.
Resurrection: Christians believe he rose from the dead three days later, which became the foundation of the faith. Sceptics and non-Christian historians generally view the resurrection as a matter of religious belief rather than verifiable history.

Jesus Christ, Quick Historical Summary Sources
Sources:
Christian: The four Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, John) in the New Testament were written roughly 30–70 years after his death. Also, letters from Paul.
Non-Christian: Brief mentions by Roman historians Tacitus and Josephus (1st–2nd century), though some parts of Josephus are debated as later Christian interpolations.
Major views on Jesus Christ:
Christianity: Son of God, Messiah, fully God and fully human (Trinitarian doctrine in most branches).
Judaism: Generally seen as a teacher or false messiah/prophet, not the promised Messiah.
Islam: Honoured as a major prophet (Isa) and messiah, born of the Virgin Mary, but not divine or crucified (Quran says he was raised to heaven).
Secular historians: A real Jewish apocalyptic preacher and healer who was executed; his movement grew dramatically after his death.
